Hello, I'm not sure if it's just me or if pasik wanted it like this but the MP5 seems to be the best weapon in any situation. I know at close quarters, it's supposed to be superior but i find myself easily mowing down enemies from across the screen in full auto fire. I think this power comes from the fact that the MP5 has the same kill probability (50%) as the other guns but puts out many more bullets, faster. In reality, the MP5 is a weak weapon shooting 9mm rounds that don't do much damage at range. To correct this issue, I will suggest decreasing the kill probability to about 30-40% and decreasing its accuracy a lot as well. Do other players feel the same about the mp5? Thanks, ComJak |

The weapon specs xml does try to reflect the MP5 or MP5SD's lack of power relative to the other weapons, in case you've missed the subtle difference: AK47 accuracy_factor="1.0" kill_decay_start_time="0.45" kill_decay_end_time="0.80" G36 accuracy_factor="1.0" kill_decay_start_time="0.35" kill_decay_end_time="0.75" MP5SD accuracy_factor="0.8" kill_decay_start_time="0.3" kill_decay_end_time="0.6" However if we're comparing weapon stats to real life, then the AK47 follows the reverse logic of having a round with the same inherent kill probability, yet retains more of it over time than the G36. The AK47 does appear to be balanced with more recoil though. I'd wager that the MP5SD indeed might not be balanced enough to counter the advantage of stealthily shooting away at AI with impunity, realism aside. From my understanding though that's a marginal difference in decay time anyway. |

The ranges in this game is FAR less then the non-lethal range of a 9x19mm (which is up to 1.800m, not that you'll EVER hit a target at that range, but a stray bullet might), the problem is that a 9x19mm is inaccurate at some ~30 meters (depends on the weapon fiering, this case mp5SD) so it's not the damage that is wrong, but maybe the accuracy should be tinkered with. Not that RwR is aiming for utra realism anyway. |

As much as I hate to admit it.(I love the mp5) It is a bit overpowered. Considering its a smg and that its completely outperforming the ak and g36 in most situations. this should be fine if it wasnt for the range on it too. now dont get me wrong ive sat there prone with a g36 an AK and a mp5 doing single shots from max range. both assault rifles are seeming to be more accurate in that situation. as well as more lethal. but the fire rate on full auto is where the mp5 comes out on top. Im not sure if its all in my head or w/e but that thing feels like its shooting faster and although the spread is a bit larger the amount of lead its spitting compensates enough to overcome it. now i notice sometimes ill hit a guy twice or 3 times and he wont go down with it but thats very rare. Seems to me if the accuracy was lowered a bit it would still be a beast of a close quarters weapon(with the high RoF, as it should) but wouldnt put assault rifles on the back bench. my 2 cents |

You guys are probably on to something here. I also hate it when JackMayol kills me 6 times in a row with an MP5. The initial reason it's so accurate is that it was mainly made for going stealth against AI, so you'd be able to go alone against an AI squad or two in a side base during night, taking them out one by one with accurate first shots accompanied with a slur of spread bullets without having to get too close to the enemies. Note that shooting with silenced weapon also has the advantage that unalarmed soldiers will get killed with any hit. Now that we actually have maps that feature more confined bases, the MP5 could probably do its thing ok even with slightly less accuracy and range, without making the stealth approach completely useless. The no-alarm hit bonus needs a little adjusting too. |
