Just wanted to say hi as I've recently bought the game and look to get involved on the forums.

Looked like one of my dream game ideas so I downloaded the demo straight away, played for about 20 mins and then purchased. Such an improvement on 0.4 I must say!

This game is so much fun. I love everything about it, especially the realistic angle it takes in some areas. Like having the same chance of death as all the bots, much better than being some sort of action hero as in most games. Playing with the max player count and max body count really make you feel like a tiny pawn a massive battle. The realistic approach to the aiming I love, really difficult firing on the move but you can be really accurate if you want with single shots from a crouched position. The extended range on the sniper also works well. I was also delighted when I noticed the cover system. Great fun holding ground with an M240 propped up on a wall or covering and popping up for shots with a rifle. I would love it if these things stayed just the way they are.

Tried a multiplayer game with my mate earlier with me hosting. His ping sat pretty at 60ms and it was incredibly smooth with 600 bots. Great fun working together assault points or defending them. I'm going to try and get a few more people to buy it. What is the current player cap? Would be awesome in the future to see some big battles with human players on both sides.

I'm in love with this game already and I can't wait to see where it goes. Please keep up the great work devs, this could be something really special, not to say it isn't already.

Cheers

Thanks for bringing up the positive points you like!

Theoretically a 10mbit upstream server might be able to host a 50-player no-AI game, but 37-player game is the most anyone has tried so far AFAIK. I have no idea how well it performed or what kind of connections and latencies people had in that game, or if they had AI bots in it too. In practice I wouldn't be surprised if problems start to emerge with those counts; I wouldn't exactly call the netcode amazingly stable or highly optimized quite yet, while it is working ok for a beta at this point :)

While there's no hardcoded cap, the realistic cap will be around 50-70 players with today's connections I'm pretty sure.

Nice, yea I might pop on the IRC then and have a look. I couldn't imagine it without a lot of AI, would seem a bit empty to me now. I do like the big battles :) I reckon big player, no-AI games could be really good fun in the future if having battles in set smaller areas of the maps was to made an option. I know it's early days and I obviously don't know where you're looking to take it but a lot could be done with the smaller area battles with regards to modes. That would make quite a package with the big wars as well.
