Ok I've watched ComJak's excellent video tutorials and I've had a look through the Basic Gameplay Tutorial PDF (0.92), there's also the RWR wiki, so what should be next for new players wanting to move up from beginner level to become reasonably competent at playing RWR.. I'd guess lots more practice, learning about tactics, PVP experience would all help? Thanks in advance for suggestions and advice! ![]() |

Hi Tankzer Welcome! First off, I'd like to say thanks for taking the time to reading through the tutorial and watching the videos. You'd be surprised at how many people choose to ignore them ![]() The next thing to do once you have the basics down is to jump online whenever you see people on. If you haven't seen it already, JackMayol wrote a small program that tracks player numbers in servers and alerts you when there are a certain number of players in a server. That way, you don't have to check in-game all the time. Playing against real people is a completely different story than against AI obviously but it is definitely more fun! As for tactics in PVP, the main one for ME at least haha is learning to compensate lag. Depending on the location of the server, player hitboxes will be shifted forwards slightly so while it may look like your bullets are hitting the enemy player model and blood spews out, you're probably not actually hitting him. Just aim a little in front to get the kill. Anyways, enjoy your time killing grey scum! ComJak |

An Englishman especially on SAS servers should perform fairly well with lag, so that's just nonsense aiming in front ![]() I suppose the best idea is to just practice against other people and get to the feel that they shoot back from the screen edges as they observe the area without occlusion unlike AI similar as you do. The funny thing that comes with it is that you still can sneak behind people, especially them snipers, with appropriate approaching paths. Having said that, I suck in PvP ![]() As for fighting against AI, enjoy the times when you're getting your ass kicked (if such exists in this case); eventually you'll know all their shortcomings that are waiting there to be exploited and you've lost half the fun. |

Hi ComJak and pasik, thanks for your friendly welcome! ![]() I was in at the deep end online first thing today, the UK SAS Invasion server was BUZZING with action! I'm guessing either I got lucky or it's a regular day/time to go on, needless to say.. "I'LL BE BACK!!" ![]() I spent the first half hour getting used to my new key/mouse controls (I've used ComJak's.. working well).. kept moving ok but firing/crouch/prone etc getting me confused, getting there just need more practice. It's still frantic non-stop action, rushing into the heat of battle with no time to think about strategy/tactics. I didn't notice much lag, my shots were accurate, it's me that's off-target, nobody else to blame. I found the hardest thing to find my way around on unfamiliar maps, only been of the initial map.. but even then it's definitely fantastic fun fighting with real people.. I've got PVP against real people to come!! ![]() Have to say RWR is simply an amazingly awesome game! I'm really looking forward to gaining experience.. Thanks RWR Devs / 'special' RWR friends.
